Description:
Prior to 8.9.0, site builders creating a new Drupal project with composer create-project needed to add a .gitignore file to their new project if they wished to manage it in git.
To simplify the site builder's task, a default .gitignore file has been added to the RecommendedProject and LegacyProject, with rules likely to be used on all sites such as settings.php and files.
Additionally, for developers and site builders who prefer to keep the files installed by composer excluded from their git repository, the set of rules needed to accomplish this are included in a commented-out form.
