9.0.0
Description:

The Stable 9 theme will function as a backwards compatibility layer for Drupal 9's core markup, CSS and JavaScript.

Changes from Drupal 8 Stable theme

  • All templates and CSS files have been updated to match with the most recent versions from modules
  • Normalize.css has been updated from 3.0.3 to 8.0.1
  • The Stable 9 theme will not provide copies of all image assets from /modules and /misc. Stable 9 will only include images that have changed. In these cases, the prior version of the image will be copied to Stable 9 to maintain backwards compatibility. Any Stable 9 CSS requesting the altered image will be updated to request the version in Stable instead.
  • Unused templates and CSS files have been removed. This includes following files:
    • file.admin.css
    • filter.admin.css
    • simpletest-result-summary.html.twig

My theme is extending Drupal 8 Stable, what should I do?

Upgrading to a Stable 9 can be a tedious task. Therefore, we have decided to continue to support previous versions of Stable. Drupal 8 Stable will be shipped in Drupal 9 along Stable 9. Drupal 8 Stable will be deprecated during the Drupal 9 lifecycle to be removed in Drupal 10 so that the theme can be moved into a contrib project.

My theme is extending Classy, what should I do?

Classy will continue extending Drupal 8 Stable. We are still discussing the future of Classy after Drupal 9. Classy will be supported either in Drupal core or in contrib.
