Body length limit counter appears not to work on page load [#309623]

When entering text for the body of an ad, there appears a line above the Body tag to count the number of characters entered. This works fine in general for me. But when an edit page loads (whether via edit or via preview) this counter is not correct when the page first loads. If I make some change to the body text after it loads, then the counter is correct.

I see this behavior on multiple installs and on FF and IE.

I encountered this problem (version 5.x.1.5-8) too. I did a 'reinstall' of the module (not having loaded any classified ad content yet) and the counter for body chars entered started working on initial entry of text for classified ad. I;m using FF 3 browser.
