socialnicheguru commentedI do not think that an entity type "flashpoint_course_module" is defined.
It is referenced throughout and I also see the field instance and storage config files.

laboratory.mikeI have found the issue: there is a particular config, /flashpoint_course_content/config/install/views.view.flashpoint_manage_course_content.yml , which includes references to the course module entity. Since I want the dependencies to work as flashpoint > flashpoint_course > flashpoint_course_content > flashpoint_course_module, what I am going to do is set up the install hook for flashpoint_course_module so that it edits the view config when installing.
while it throws an error, the practical effect is that one management view isn't installed. It can still be installed if you also enable flashpoint_course_module.

laboratory.mikeOK, patch is now in dev, but dev is ~2/3 of the way to the alpha20 release now, which means it is not safe to use on production sites. However, the only remaining part is writing the install hook for existing sites (testing that tonight), so for new sites it should be ok.
