This patch was created with Chart API 5.x-1.2 as the starting point. I wasn't sure if 5.x-1.x-dev was active.

Be warned it is completely untested, but it should be a good starting point. Who knows, it might even work.

The Chart API seems to be working.

The contributed System Charts needs more work.

One thing to note concerning my patch: I created the patch against the CVS version. For some reason with the downloaded version the .info files don't get patched properly. It appears that d.o adds some extra text in the release download that is throwing patch off.

I had to manually merge the patch for the .info files, but it's only a few lines of editing.
