damienmckennaThis just does a db_delete() to remove the value from the 'key_value' table and seems to work.

drunken monkeyYeah, that warning is annoying. Didn’t know that Core was so bad at handling this scenario. The module isn’t installed, so why does it need to complain about it missing?
In any case, it makes sense to get rid of this, if easily possible – I just didn’t really know, how. Thanks for looking into it and providing a solution – looks pretty sensible. Accessing the key/value store directly via the database doesn’t look very clean, but probably can’t be helped in an update function.
However, as this can go wrong in various ways, and it’s not really vital that the operation succeeds, I think we should catch any DB exceptions to avoid updates failing on this.
Also,
db_delete()is deprecated.Revised patch attached, please test/review!

zisser commentedGuys,
I don't know a lot about drupal programming and really struggling updating my site.. almost there..
I now see the following when running update.php:
The following module is marked as installed in the core.extension configuration, but it is missing:
search_api_views_taxonomy
Review the suggestions for resolving this incompatibility to repair your installation, and then re-run update.php.
I replaced the search_api with 8.x-1.x-dev release, cleared the caches and run update again.. same issue.
I also attempted to run "DELETE FROM key_value WHERE collection='system.schema' AND name='search_api_views_taxonomy'" directly in the phpmyadmin...
Can anyone suggest a solution?
