Discussed w/ catch and putting a lot of effort into backport kernel tests doesn't seem overly needed at this point. And since the code for the backports is almost identical to D8, I'm going to roll these patches, wait a day or 2 for reviews and commit them. That gives some time for the community to respond, but also doesn't slow things down with unneeded overhead.

Checked all the 7 backport issues, RTBCed 3 and modified a bit (cleaned-up, sort of) the others. Found a generic issue and moved the fix from one of the children to a dedicated bug fix including newly introduced files into the info files[] array.
Apart of cleaning up the codes from the non-RTBCed ones, I believe they are also OK generically, but would be better to someone else RTBC them not me who created the last patches (obviously if they pass the tests).

There's 3 still open issues remaining for review. I think all of them are in pretty good shape, but I'll wait a reasonable time for feedback before committing them.
