On a vanilla installation 4.x upgraded to vanilla 5.0. It was the standard group types. All the group types, yes.

I copied the view from a new installed 5.0, to the upgraded instance which was upgraded from 4.x to 5.0.

then the group pages works fine.

so I guess the upgrading procedure lost this view

I also encounter that I can not create events after upgrade to 5.1 even though I have added the view and can access group stream.
I don't know if this is related.

Enabling views_bulk_operations before running update does not fix the problem.
The view is indeed lost during migration from 4.x to 5.x

I can confirm this after several attempts upgrading by changing 4.0 to 5.0 in composer.json:
"goalgorilla/open_social": "^5.0"

It is fixed however by creating a new site on Open Social 5.x, exporting the enabling views_bulk_operations and importing it in the old site.

Proper steps to fix it for those who completed the migration are:

At Open Social Installation Root

  1. Edit composer.json and change
    "goalgorilla/open_social": "^4.0" to "goalgorilla/open_social": "^5.0"
  2. Run composer update
  3. Run composer update again, there is usually some additional stuff to be updated as a result of a first update.

On New Clean Site

  1. Install/Create a new clean site on Open Social 5.x following multisite instructions.
  2. Export the "Group Manage Members (group_manage_members)" View, by going to
    /admin/config/development/configuration/single/export
  3. Copy the code generated to clipboard (Select All / Ctrl-C or Command C).

On Old Site

  1. Enable views_bulk_operations module and Bartik theme on your site.
    drush theme:enable bartik
drush en views_bulk_operations
  2. Run update database and entity update.
    drush updb
drush entup
  3. Import missing view by going to /admin/config/development/configuration/single/import, choose View, paste the code from the view and click on [ Import ].

And that's it, Social is Open for business again when it comes to groups :-)

Interesting, I tried that scenario with fresh setup for both 8.4.x and 8.5.x
Maybe, I might have missed something while doing a fresh setup.

I had two different setups so I didn't need to run composer to update things.
Anyway, we should think about some upgrade path to prevent these kinds of issues like update hooks etc.

@grn I also get the error when trying to create an event within a group, but that would be a separate issue, even if related to this one, and should be discussed as a separate issue. My impression is that it is linked to the field_group module in any case.

A separate issue should be created to address it. It too is a serious issue after upgrading.

I faced this same issue I updated from OpensSocial 3 to 5 version, I had only to import again the configuration file:
path/to/drupalroot/profiles/contrib/social/modules/social_features/social_group/config/install/views.view.group_manage_members.yml

You can do using crush or drupal console, also from UI configuration management selecting View as type.

This PR https://github.com/goalgorilla/open_social/pull/1338 should revolve the problem.

For me #14 doesn't work, I get this error :

Configuration can't be imported because validation failed for the following reasons :

Configuration addtoany.settings depend on addtoany extension that won't be installed after importation.

I think should be under some module inside the OpenSocial profile.
Mostly the issue related to this, is related to missing config imported, and the reason is because mostly of that config are under config/install folder, as you already have installed with a previous version opensocial, that config might not applied correctly due to the module is not installing is updating, and should follow an approach like the PR on comments #20 and #21

@jaapjan, I agree.

It would be very helpful if you would post any feature changes in the pure installation. For instance when releasing version 5.4 it would be nice to know that there are not changes between 5.3 and 5.4.

Our current workflow with this is to have a vanilla social on 5.3, export configuration, then upgrade and roll back social features and export configuration and monitor any differences.

#21 worked for me too. I recently updated Drupal core and social profile and I faced this issue. Importing modules/social_features/social_group/config/install/views.view.group_manage_members.yml solved the route error. Thanks @igasi.
