Duplicate field in view not unique in view variable

When you have the same field twice in a view the view variable shows the field name twice instead of distincting it with a suffix (as views does).

Example:

• I have a view for group content and the referenced node.
• My view holds the a field "field_display_name" of the node author and of the group content creator (in views this is named "field_display_name_1").
• In the view variable both fields are named {{the_view_variable->field_display_name}}.

I have tried a work around by adding a custom text field to the view holding one of the display names but in the view variable custom text fields are not contained :( .
