Hi there!
Back when I first tried to register on Drupal.org under my usual username 'marassa' I am using pretty much everywhere else, I was told that such an account already exists. I thought maybe I had already registered and forgot about it but as I never received password reset emails apparently it was another person. The account doesn't have any posts or commits or user info or any activity I can see. So the question is: do inactive accounts like this ever 'expire'? Do I have any chance to use the username that I would prefer and that I am using for most of my accounts elsewhere?

avpadernoDid you contact the user to see if the account is still being used? As far as I know, we don't have rules about deleting accounts that aren't used in the past X months, which means it's not something we do.
In the past, there have been cases of users wanting to use a specific username, but that has been resolved contacting the other part. We don't automatically do this.

marassa commentedHi kiamlaluno, thank you for your reply.
I would have contacted the user if I knew how. The user has no contributions whatsoever, no "Contact" link, and even when I manually construct the URL to contact him/her (https://www.drupal.org/user/xxxxx/contact) all I get is 403...

avpadernoI will send a message to the user, later today, asking to the user to reply on this issue.

avpadernoI sent a message to the user. (The Contact tab is always visible to Drupal.org webmasters.)

marassa commentedThank you @kiamlaluno! Seems like no reply in 10 days?

avpadernoSince there haven't been replies, even via email, I changed the username of the other account.
