I would like certain role applications to be automatically approved. Is there a different module that might be able to do this? Also I would be good if administrators or those with access to approve role applications were automatically sent email notifications when someone applies for a role.

the email bit is a duplicate of an existing issue which has been fixed in the -dev release.

Somewhat similar... I am already using Auto Assign Role, but this is different. The Auto Assign Role only applies to new accounts during registration. What I want is the ability to automatically approve a role application after someone applies for it. I would like the ability to specify whether approval is automatic on a per-role basis. This allows users to specify areas of interest by dynamically showing and hiding content based on role access, but allows the user some degree of control over their experience.
