You are right. It is enabled automatically daily for now. But you can always add the tests manually, anytime. Do you see "Add test / retest" under your patch, or is it maintainers who can see and enable them? If maintainers only, I will enable more test options later.

All users can manually add tests. However, you can assign a default test suite that runs when a patch file is uploaded in the issue queue:

I only enabled them when I know I had my tests updated with the latest Drupal, and it has a green shield, and less little things to update, like for Slick:
