But the user not appears in the auto-complete field.

Probably his name doesn't appear in the auto-complete because he doesn't have the vetted role.

I added him as co-maintainer with full permissions.

Keep in mind that the vetted role as only for being able to opt into security advisory coverage for projects you create. If you just co-maintain projects created by other users, you don't need the role.

Anyway, the procedure is described in Apply for permission to opt into security advisory coverage.
