Problem/Motivation

Errors occuring during an import are only displayed to the user when performing an import using the UI. You won't know it if there are errors when the import happens via cron. All messages do get stored on the a State object, but these state objects are cleared when the import finishes.

Proposed resolution

Log all messages. Maybe add an extra module to be able to see the logs per feed.

First attempt.

There is a similar issue about this - #2907721: Log items that failed to import - but that goes one step further by specifically targeting items that failed to import, rather than just logging all messages.

#2 proved to be a great help for monitoring imports. Although you can't get an overview of logs per feed, I think it already is a huge win to be able to track what happened during cron imports, even if it just ends up at the central log, so committed #2.

Be able to see the logs per feed can be handled in a follow-up.
