This bug report came out of a heavy discussion by the Swedish translation team.

The description of "Site configuration" is "Adjust basic site configuration options" but infact it contains all (or at least most!) site configuration options. The user Boletus proposed the alternative description "Configure site options" as

  • configuration and options both aren't required in the original sentence.
  • there are other settings there except basic ones.

At least the word 'basic' should go in my opinion. Any other proposals? Comments?

I am filing this bug for 6.x-dev as that is the version we are crrently working on, but am aware of the translation freeze, so this should probably go into 7.x-dev.

I agree "basic" is not really accurate.

"Configure site options." it is.

I prefer "Administer site settings." since the URI is admin/settings/*.

I'm not sure which I prefer, probably 'settings', but we need to stick to either 'settings' or 'configuration' or some other synonym, and use that in the path too.

The attached patch changes this to "Configure site settings."

I'm hesitant to change the well-known admin/settings/* path; obviously, it's much easier to change the description. We use "Administer *" in zero descriptions that I saw on the /admin page, however, though we use "Configure *" often.
