off topic: does anyone have airbnb with a spare bed? The whole Utrecht seems to be fully booked except few expensive options

2️⃣ Front End United Sprint! ~2 weeks away!

drpal Here we are.
webchick Hi
drpal
drpal
drpal
webchick So has a table for availability which isn’t very well filled in yet. There’s also a spreadsheet at for the overall camp
webchick Oops, I see I’m duplicating effort
webchick I think first order of business is: a) who can be there, when, and what can they contribute?
drpal @webchick I just throw links out there, no context :slightly_smiling_face:
webchick Second order of business is b) what’s the “agenda” of the sprint, based on that information?
webchick The issue has some spitballing but it’s quite old and doesn’t reflect the actual attendee list.
drpal I will be there.
webchick Going by it looks like Wed/Thurs we have the most people. Maybe a half-day Tuesday alsp
webchick We start to lose people on Friday when the conference starts.
webchick OTOH I think that might be when Dries is available. Need to check with him.
lauriii I also just booked my flights so that I will be leaving on Friday afternoon
webchick For attendees (according to the spreadsheeet) we have:
webchick Sally Young
Lauri Eskola
Cristina Chumillas
Volker Killesreiter
Angie Byron
Daniel Wehner
Matt Grill
drpal I arrive early Monday AM so I’ll probably be sleepy that day.
webchick And Dries for some part of that.
lauriii I’ll arrive around 1pm on Monday
webchick And @alexpott was also attending Front End United I thought(?)
lauriii Yes
lauriii I updated his dates
lauriii on the Github issue
alexpott I am!
webchick Ah great. Let’s kill the table on the GitHub issue and just use the spreadsheet IMO. Then there’s more visibility to other fplks.
dawehner I think for the actual agenda I would suggest to focus a bit on answering the hard questions we have, like: what can modules do etc.
webchick @dawehner Cool. Will we have the right people there for that?
dawehner I'd say so, I see @lauriii in there for example
drpal @dawehner I think that’s a great idea.
webchick So @here If you are coming to the Front End United (or planning to participate remotely), please fill out a row at ~125 in
dawehner One thing I'm wondering: Do we need to buy tickets for the conference even the plan is to sprint?
webchick Ok great. Cristina is also coming, so we could do some UX stuff as well, if we are so inclined.
webchick @dawehner I looked into that, and no. However, you *do* need to buy daily tickets to the co-working space. Sec.
dawehner Yeah maybe we could do some prototypes of Cristinas amazing ideas!
ckrina I think Roy is coming too, but not sure which days
dawehner @webchick Let me update that in the github ticket
webchick
webchick This is why it’s important to know which days we are sprinting. :slightly_smiling_face:
webchick is (euro-symbol) 11.95/day
drpal
webchick It seems a bit odd to PAY to sprint, but OTOH the venue is apparently cool and has furnished foods and coffee and stuff
webchick And other Drupal people will be there as well if we need some cross-collaboration
drpal Yeah. I wasn’t too thrilled about that.
drpal
drpal Oh well.
dawehner Oh I don't worry about that. Coworking spaces give you other things for free, like not the worst chairs
webchick @drpal yeah. ;( OTOH it’s a fraction of the cost of a ticket to the event for those who aren’t going.
drpal Yep.
webchick Ok, so Monday seems like a waste of time.
webchick But Tues=>Friday?
lauriii my flight leaves at 5pm on Friday
webchick @lauriii from AMS or?
lauriii I’ll probably leave around 2pm
webchick ok cool.
lauriii from AMS
webchick @dawehner So going back to your earlier point, Yes! we could totally prototype some UX steuff
dawehner Tuesday=>Friday++
webchick And we could also solve complex architecture bits
webchick or we could do both
webchick I’m not really in a good position I feel to make a call there.
drpal @webchick You mean just plan, not actual implementations?
dawehner @webchick Yeah I was looking at the list and it would be nice for example for @volkerk  to be able to get involved, too
webchick Yep, they are coming as well. :slightly_smiling_face:
webchick So for the people coming, what do you want to work on? What are you hoping to get out of the sprint?
webchick We had talked loosely earlier about solving “hard problems” so that come Dev Days in about a month after, people can get to town on implementation
webchick I don’t have a good sense tho on what the blockers are atm to “turn a bunch of awesome developers loose on the JS Modernization Initiative’s todo list.”
webchick Thoughts?
webchick We could also say “We dunno yet” and work to define that over the next couple of weeks, that’s fine too.
webchick I just feel like I made that issue back in the day and it’s been mostly crickets
lauriii I think most things are listed here
ckrina Leave some awesome developers for the "Eight" theme :joy:
dawehner Well, I think when we talk about hard problems we will come up with more actionable items for dev days!
webchick @drpal Yeah, but IMO that’s WAY too much for a 4 day sprint
webchick Esp. if we want UX time in there
webchick So we should pick a “top 3” or “top 5" or something of things we want to try and hash out and/or “demos” we want to be able to do
dawehner @ckrina I guess one thing we could discuss is: How do we enable an easy way to sync up changes to the new theme into the new admin UI
webchick Or, you can also tell me, “Webchick, you’re being very silly for trying to get an agenda together ahead of time, let’s just show up and work:
webchick It’s just helpful to communicate both to each other and to prospective attendees as well as to “outsiders” what to expect.
lauriii I think it’s a great idea to have a plan!
ckrina @dawehner yeah, I think that'd be important to be able to say clearly if this new theme is going to be useful once we have the new JS admin
dawehner Yeah we should have a sort of dedicated timeslot to talk about each of / / / /
dawehner Of which I think 13 should have the biggest priority as it fundamentally affects the entire ecosystem
webchick Cool. And are there like “must have” people at any fo those talks? like “don’t bother talking about this unless FOO is there?”
webchick Great!
dawehner 13 should have at least a framework manager, IMHO
dawehner for 11 a clone of gabor would be amazing
webchick @alexpott do you know your in/out dates and general availability for FEU?
webchick LOL @ clone of Gábor. :slightly_smiling_face: let me talk to him and see if we can get his remote participation for part of the week
lauriii @webchick he’ll be there for May 28 - June 3
alexpott Yes :slightly_smiling_face: I'm there on Monday and I leave Sunday.
webchick Oh perfect! Sorry I’m behind the times
dawehner I hope @alexpott is not leaving me alone in the airbn
webchick @alexpott are you coming for this, or are you splitting your time among lots of different initiatives?
alexpott I'm coming for this. I don;t think any other initiative has work planned that week.
webchick ROCK!
webchick K, sorry, I’m hitting the end of my available time. I’ll update the GitHub issue later with what we discussed here, and maybe we can continue brainstorming either in this thread or in the issue?
dawehner :+1:
webchick Thanks so much everyone! :slightly_smiling_face:
love.huria Hi there.
Just one thing, how can we help remotely?
dawehner @love.huria that is a good question. Right now we mostly talked about many things , which don't have super actionable points. Maybe you could sync with @ckrina who might have some more actionable bits. This would help us in the future, too
dawehner @love.huria I'll let you know when there is something good!
ckrina I hope around week the "Eight" theme will start, but until then it's mostly design stuff :slightly_smiling_face:
love.huria @dawehner Sure, sounds good. Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

@ckrina What’s this eight theme about? (Sorry, kinda new pitching in.)

ckrina @love.huria np :slightly_smiling_face: it's this:
love.huria Interesting, Thanks @ckrina
Having a look.
justafish @webchick @drpal @dmsmidt @ckrina @lauriii I spoke to the FUE team and they’re going to fund the entry to the co-working space for the sprint
justafish Thank you @MathieuSpil!
ckrina @MathieuSpil that's great!!
dawehner That's vgood
MathieuSpil Yes! Our accountant is just scared how many people are now going to show up, but I think we can carry that financially :slightly_smiling_face:
yoroy ooh, great news that is

I’ll be heading out, see you later
