It doesn't matter what date I pick. After I save the node, "Authored on" value is always current date, or rather it always saves the date and time when I click "Save" button for the last time. I disabled the "Date Popup Authored" module and now I can save any date.
I don't know when the problem started, but I just noticed it.
I'm using Drupal core 7.58
Date Popup Authored 7.x-1.2

Title: Always saves current date » Impossible to save the date other than current

This is very bad. I am using Panopoly and they recently updated this module from a specific commit of the 7.x-dev (baf315c) to 7.x-1.2 and this problem appeared on all of my sites. This module hasn't been updated in forever, but I recommend everyone stay away from this module. If you must use it, look for the commit I mentioned above.

Hi, thanks for the report!

Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce this using Drupal 7.59, Date Popup Authored 1.2 (or 7.x-1.x-dev) and Date 7.x-2.x: creating a new Article node with an arbitrary date saves the arbitrary date, as does updating an existing node.

There have been no code changes to this module in 3 years, and all tests still pass (I just re-ran them), so it is interesting that it is not working for both of you. Can you provide more information about your configuration:

- What version of Drupal are you running?
- What version of Date are you running?
- What version of PHP are you running?
- What are the values for the variables prefixed with "date_popup_authored_"?
- Can you reproduce the issue with a clean Drupal installation?

Providing the above will help isolate the issue you are having.

Please note that this module has been marked minimally maintained for a few years: this functionality is a part of Drupal 8 core, and while I am happy to help figure out why this is not working for you, I would highly recommend any new project be started using Drupal 8. But if you can isolate the issue on your own, I would also happily accept patches.

Thanks!

I am experiencing the same problem too on Drupal 7.59. It seems to have developed recently

I recreated the problem by adding a new date field. You don't even have to anything for it to behave strangely.

Thank you.

Thanks for the additional information! I am still unable to reproduce:

1. Enabled the date module.
2. Added a new Date field to the Article content type. Date attributes to collect: Year, Month, Day, Hour, Minute. Collect end date unchecked. Time zone handling: Use site's time zone. Cache dates disabled.
3. Edited an existing Article node, changing both the Authored On field and the new date field. Both saved correctly.
4. Switched the widget type for the Date field to Calendar Popup, Select List, and Text field. Same results.
5. Repeated 2-4 for Date (ISO format) and Date (Unix timestamp). Same results.

What would help would be the exact steps to reproduce from a clean installation of Drupal 7.59 with the latest release of Date (7.x-2.10) and Date Popup Authored (7.x-1.2).

Thank you so much for a quick response.
Because of the exigencies of dates on my site, I disabled the pop-up and the date is working fine.
I will need more time to do further testing.

Brand new site. All I did was enable date popup authored and I didn't even add any date fields. If I edit an article node, when it is saved, the "authored" timestamp changes to the last updated time. If I downgrade to the dev version I mentioned above, this does not happen.

Thanks for the additional information! As I've said, I am unable to reproduce with a clean installation. Can you provide the answers to my other questions?

- What version of PHP are you running?
- What are the values for the variables prefixed with "date_popup_authored_"?

Some additional information would help as well:

- Are you installing a standard installation of Drupal from https://drupal.org/project/drupal or are you using a distribution? (You mentioned before that you were using Panopoly)
- Can you provide step-by-step instructions, or a better yet, a screencast, from the moment you've installed a clean installation of Drupal to the point you see the problem? Include the exact values you use to create the node, for example, and any changes to the content type settings you've might've performed.

Thanks!

Hi Mark!
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
As requested, here is the information you requested:
Drupal: 7.59
PHP: 5.6.34
Date: 7.x-2.8
Date Popup: 7.x-2.8
Date Popup Authored: 7.x-1.2
As I mentioned, when I disabled popup, the date works fine and that is how I have been using it since then.
Thank you for your help
