I tried with placing the masquerade block, but that didn't show an unmasquerade link. is there such a link available?

There's toolbar link to unmasquerade & account menu as well

Hi, I'm asking this for a user without permissions to use the toolbar. The link doesn't appear in the account menu either (perhaps because of these missing permissions).

Yes, the same thing for me: I have a role with no permissions to access admin menu toolbar but which can use Masquerade module.
In the previous versions, the switch back's link appeared in the block in spite of the Masquerade form.
Why can't we have this behaviour in the D8 version?

Anyway, thanks a lot for your useful work.
Masquerade is a very great & useful module.

We can't show masquerade block when masquerading cos most of time user is not allowed to access it

Sorry, I deactivated the link the account menu, so the link does work. This means this is solved for me.

Link is visible only to uid1 & users with permissions, see #2695779: Unmasquerade link appears for users with the permission: 'link to any page', regardless of masquerade status.
