I don't see any way to add a new image.
Also, select list is always EMPTY while I really have a lot of images in the database.

For those looking for the same, go to Configuration > Content authoring > Entity Browsers

There you'll find a list of browsers and one would be there by default, edit it.

It has several tabs rendered and looking like breadcrumbs. On the first "General information" you can select options of EB appearance like showing it in IFrame or in Modal window (as in old good times).

On the Widget tab you'll find two widgets: View and Upload and only the former would be activated. So just add Upload one:

Thanks for the instructions - for me this adds an upload widget that successfully uploads but doesn't allow me to actually select the uploaded file:

Looks like there's still some work left to do.

Attached patch adds an upload widget using IEF & entity_browser_entity_form so no manual steps should be needed.

Just altering the credits to remove myself from this, you should alter the commit too if you're so inclined, I didn't do anything to fix this one :)
