When searching for "author" (for example) autocomplete shows words starting with author, but not the author word itself.

See screen shot.

I am seeing this same problem. Anybody have ideas?

Maybe it's up to the backend so a search_api_solr problem? The whole thing is rather vague - so it's not even clear how it should work IMO.

Could you share your backend module and the actual backend software?

For me, this is search_api_solr 8.x-1.2. Seems to be reproducible on Acquia solr backend (v4.5.1), as well as solr 5.5.5, and solr 6.6.3 with standard search_api_solr configurations.

Created an issue in search_api_solr - #2978909: Autocomplete doesnt show exact match

I'm also having this issue and don't use solr. I'm only running Search API with a database service. If I type in "Ar" it will suggest "Arm", but if I type in "Arm" it returns no matches. If they type fast it makes users think that term doesn't exist. Is there a place other than Solr that could cause this?
