Given that Facebook is deprecating old APIs fairly often I marked the module as Obsolete. I don't have any current site using this, or energy to contribute fixes to it. Thus I'm looking for sponsors that are using / need this module to pay for my hours to fix it.

If you are willing to contribute, please leave a comment here or use the contact form in https://www.drupal.org/user/550110/contact.

Initial issue report:

I have followed all the steps that are indicated in the video tutorial and definitely this application doesn't work anymore.
At the time of configuring the login for facebook, it reloads the same page without providing any option.
I have applied the patch that is recommended in other post months ago, in the sdk of facebook and does not change anything.
It's a shame because this module did what it promised, but it has remained without active maintenance and it no longer works.

charlysole created an issue. See original summary.

You are correct. You can see in the module page that it has been set as No further development and Seeking new maintainer for a long time. Sadly no one stepped in during all this time.

Any alternative?

e0ipso’s picture

I guess that finding a new maintainer or sponsoring the fix of the current code are the only alternatives I see.

I'm curious - how much "sponsoring" would it require to get it all "up-to-date". It says there are nearly 3000 sites using it, so MAYBE some of us could get together and come up with enough to interest you in a "major" update and helping to find someone to maintain it?

I only started using it about the time you marked it "obsolete" - with the patches posted I was able to make it work and its EXACTLY what my site needed, but I dread relying on something "dead" and would be willing to help "Sponsor" it to see that it gets the love it deserves!

@scsmith I just sent you a private email through your contact form in drupal.org.

If we reach an agreement for the module sponsoring, then I'll post back here notifying everyone. Anyone else willing to chip in to get this fixed, can express that in this issue as well.

scsmith’s picture

I'm willing to share the sponsorship if we can find a "few" others. If your interested, post here so we can see how many of us there are!

I'm in. I don't know how much time is needed to fix this, but maybe if e0ipso could make a quotation, we could find users who need this fixed and get it through.

I would also love to see this module maintained! It sounds like you need:

1. Money - How much?
2. People to help with support and maintenance - How many?

I would also like to see this module maintained. Any estimation on either the number of hours or total budget expected? Then we call can pitch in.

So far it appears there are 4 of us willing to contribute to the updating of the module. I will let the creator explain his estimate, but he did write me privately and i will say that we would each be needing to contribute $200-300usd. Personally it's worth that much to me. I'm using it (patched) on a production server and my facebook "fans" love the results. I have several other ideas to use the module for, but am holding off until I have a feeling that it's future is secure.

I would be in too and would pay some money for it.
Unfortunatelly I lost the overview if there is a way to make this module work right now. Can someone help me with the necessary patches?
I hope that some more users are willing to give some money in that great module. Why not to pay for good work?

scsmith’s picture

Likos73 - yes, it can work with the necessary patches

Depending on your problem - look at the following two issues...

https://www.drupal.org/project/fb_autopost/issues/2511284
https://www.drupal.org/project/fb_autopost/issues/2602478

In my case I am fairly certain I only needed the second issue patch, but your milage may vary! I may have also done the first patch, but forgotten it. If you can't get it working - email me thru my profile and I'll see if I can send you the patched module I'm using that does work wonderfully....I just wish we could get e0ipso the proper "encouragement" to get it all updated and help to find a new maintainer so we can trust it will keep working into the future. Personally, its done wonders for my Facebook presence which in turn drives people to my website....a win/win for me!
