This issue is for tracking progress and problems with the Japanese screenshots.
Tasks and their status (unmarked tasks are assumed not to be done yet):
- [DONE]Ensure that most of the current version's user interface has been translated into Japanese, so that the screenshots will show very little if any English on them.
- [DONE]Translate the "scenario text" into Japanese. The text to be translated is the "Scenario Text" section of the scripts/TermsToTranslate.fods spreadsheet. What is needed is a 3-column sheet with these columns:
- Context (the column called Context in the TermsTo Translate sheet)
- English text
- Your language text
- [DONE]Make initial automated screenshots. Procedure: See auto_screenshots/README.txt.
- [DONE]Make initial non-automated screenshots. See the source/en/images/README.txt file for details of which images need to be made.
- Check each screenshot to make sure it is all in the target language and is readable. The Japanese language team will do this as they translate each topic. If problems are found, add tasks here so that the screenshots can be updated. Leave this issue open until all the topics have been translated and the screenshots checked and/or updated.

jhodgdonGreat! The first steps are for the Japanese team: #1 and #2 in the issue summary. When you have translated the "scenario text", you can make a spreadsheet file and upload it here, and I will make the automated screenshots, and you can make the non-automated screenshots.
I'm going over to the parent issue now to set up the Git repository etc. for Japanese... welcome again to the project!

kabetani commentedAttached is the spreadsheet with the "scenario text" translated into Japanese.
Could you take a look that?
Thanks in advance.

jhodgdonSpreadsheet looks great! I will see about making the screenshots...
I guess it is probably time to switch to Drupal 8.3.x (the last time I was still using 8.2.x -- see #2857156: Make a 3.x branch)... And it might be a few days before I get all of them done, because the 8.3 switch will take me a little time (some tests/scripts will most likely need to be modified a bit). They take some time to run anyway... and both Japanese and French just submitted translations today, so I will probably do them together.
Do you think Japanese in Drupal 8.3.x -- the Drupal Core interface -- is mostly translated, so the screenshots will come out mostly in Japanese?
Also, see step 4 in the issue summary, because there are about 6 screenshots (mostly of the Japanese installation) that you will make manually.

kabetani commentedThanks for your support.
Japanese in Drupal 8.3.x is mostly translated, so the screenshots will be come out mostly in Japanese.
We haven't translated any article yet, I think switching to 8.3.x is best timing.
Because we have some work such as translating "Contributor Guidelines", we want to start translation after switching to 8.3.x.

jhodgdonAfter running the screenshots script for the first 4 chapters, I noticed that you didn't translate two things:
vendor_type_name
recipe_type_name
These are the labels for the content types (English names Vendor and Recipe), and they should be translated.
I see that you have the words Vendors and Recipes translated in the spreadsheet as 販売者 and レシピ (for the view titles) but since I don't speak/read Japanese, I am not sure how to make those words into singular forms. Can you provide me translations of the words "Vendor" and "Recipe"? Then I will go ahead and make the automated screenshots. Thanks!
kabetani commentedYour guess is correct.
vendor_type_name is "販売者", recipe_type_name is "レシピ".
Please proceed with this translation.
Thanks.

jhodgdonGreat, I should have the screenshot run done later today or tomorrow. Thanks for the prompt reply!

jhodgdonThe automated screenshots for Japanese are done! Leaving issue open for the manually-generated screenshots.

kabetani commentedThank you @jhodgdon.
I committed manually-generated screenshots.
I'd like to leave this issue open for our translation team to check the images.
