After enabling this theme, I received an HTTP 500 error for the site. I have been trying out a few different themes, and this is the only one I had that issue on.

Hi,

for bugfixing, I need everything that could help me understanding your specific setup without needing a glass sphere. (The more you provide the more I can understand. There's even an issue 101 around somewhere on drupal.org afair)

From what I have so far, I woul suspect you don't have the color module enabled. Please do so and let me know your results (and still all other details if it still fails)
