Backports module conflicts - Is backports needed on OA

Is BAckports necessary with Open Atrium.

Backports module is conflicting with mailchimp. I thought i t might be another issue with contextual fields but its backports.
I know for issues this is a mailchimp and backports issue but Im just looking for OA support because I turned off backports and my OA install seems to work just as before.

I haven't gone through it fully but is it even necessary to be turned on anyways? What is backports doing for OA.

IF not needed what other modules generally arent needed for OA but are turned on out of the box.
