Clicking on "Edit Items" after creating a new simple queue results in:

Drupal\Core\Entity\Exception\UndefinedLinkTemplateException: No link template 'canonical' found for the 'entity_subqueue' entity type in Drupal\Core\Entity\Entity->toUrl() (line 214 of .../core/lib/Drupal/Core/Entity/Entity.php).

I had previously been creating queues without issues.

I created a simple patch which removes the default usage of "canonical" in toUrl.

I successfully applied the patch. And I am not getting an error. My steps below:

mac-admin:entityqueue lxt$ curl -s -O https://www.drupal.org/files/issues/remove_canonical_default-2862628-2.patch
mac-admin:entityqueue lxt$ patch -p1 < remove_canonical_default-2862628-2.patch
patching file src/Entity/EntitySubqueue.php
Hunk #1 succeeded at 327 (offset 24 lines).

However, I am no longer getting the error without the patch either, leading me to believe it was more to do with some of my configuration and not the code. :P

This was fixed in Drupal Core 8.3.x in this issue: #2479377: content_translation_page_attachments() should check for a canonical link before generating a URL to it

You should update your site to the latest Drupal 8.3.x release and the error should be gone :)
