Other work items remaining:

  • Migration D7->D8. Permissions changed to ID.
  • Dropped compatibility fix for module password_policy_password_tab. Will reinstate if someone is willing to test.
  • Documentation on module page / README. Some differences from D7. In particular, the module creates a new view rather than overriding the existing one.
  • Testing: confirm the D7 Ajax fix code is no longer needed.
  • Tidy up help text in administerusersbyrole_help.

I have raised another core issue #2854252: User forms broken for admin without 'administer users' with a patch.

The latest release 8.x-2.0-alpha3 relies on this patch so please apply it. Please update the core issue to mark as "RTBC" if it works for you, or let me know of any problems.

In case of problems with the patch, the hook code is still available if you enable the sub-module administerusersbyrole_hack. But I'd much rather you used the patch please - I will eventually delete the hack, and I am relying on early adopters to help me get the patch into core.

There is a new version 8.x-3.x which adds support for

  • Assign of selected roles
  • View of selected roles
  • Optional simplified configuration model

Alpha release available. Not yet ready for live sites, but would appreciate testing.

My plan is to eventually retire v8.x-2.x in favour of the new version.

I don't think this roadmap is needed any more

  • The main project page and individual release notes explain that Drupal core patches are required.
  • I just raised an issue for the migration #2994901: Add migration D7->D8.
