So both blockers are RTBC now. We are not far away from a first beta i guess.

Ha. Ha ha ha. Famous last words :)

The new 2.x version does _not_ solve this, but I do plan to release a beta version there once people switch and I get either none or positive feedback. Most of the issues referenced here have been closed however, and for beta support, I'm more interested in resolving API breaks and bugfixes. Don't need an issue for that, so closing.
