Menu Token Updates After 2 Saves

I am using dates in my menu path. When I add a path, such as events/[current-date:custom:Y]-05, and save the path is saved as menutoken/576a5f02773c8. However, if I go back to that particular menu item and re-save without making any changes, the path becomes valid. But, if I were to go back and adjust the path again, say to events/updated-path/[current-date:custom:Y]-05, the change would not be reflected unless I save again.
