Patch is ready for review.

I think this would be helpful to get a security patched version of the 7.x-1.x branch available even if it is no longer maintained as there is still significant usage.

7.x-1.x also needs help to get the testbot working again on that branch because I'm not sure people will want to use patches that don't pass testing.

Although I also *highly* recommend that people use this opportunity to upgrade to the 7.x-2.x branch since we did a significant amount of work to ensure the upgrade was as smooth as possible.
