I've found an edge case, where IEF does not save changed values:

The child entity must have a CKEditor enabled field. When you try to edit the field in (HTML) source mode and close the IEF form by pressing the update button before saving, the changes get lost.

If you leave the IEF form open, the changes get saved as expected.

If you don't switch the editor to source mode, it works in either way

Nivedha -- Here's a couple of workarounds:

  1. If ckeditor's source mode is enabled, click on the parent entity's save button and avoid clicking on the inline entity form entity's save button.
  2. Editing in source mode and then clicking ckeditor's “Source” button again to switch back to the rich text editor mode allows you to click on any save button just fine.

This is a bug with CKEditor in Core. Please see #3275611: Editing source using the CKEditor Source mode does not fire change event. It happens independently of IEF. I've gotten a number of support questions about it at work. I've even been bitten by it more than once. But none of those instances happened when used in an IEF context.
