As discussed at #1121610: XMP library is not available and nothing is show in the CCK field, the XMP library is not mandatory. However a warning message is displayed on the Status Report.

Can the warning message be disabled in the .info file or by checkbox? Or can the library be removed?

It doesn't appear that a SXMP library for PHP exists.

Where is the status of fixing this configuration problem with this module and this library dependency?

How about patching this module's configuration files to remove this apparently unused dependency?

it does : libSXMP (http://xmpphptoolkit.sourceforge.net/) but it is quiet old now on exiftool is probably a better alternative. I will remove dependencies for next version (7.x-1.10)
