In the 7.x-1.x branch there is a gitignore file committed that excludes phpstorm files and patch files.

This can be annoying as it can interfere with using patches in site development repositories.

I think this file should be excluded and the module maintainer handle not accidentally committing these files in a different way (eg. a global gitignore on your system or something).
