I’ve just replied to a forum post http://drupal.org/node/271164 at 14:51 (server time)
It had no replies.
When I posted my reply there was a previous reply from nevets at a little after 14:35 (time of original post).
Now, when I refresh, there are no replies at all!
Nothing appears on my tracker.
Now it is on my tracker with two replies – but not the post itself.
Gone from tracker!

Is this a data replication issue

Possibly related issue: http://drupal.org/node/267884

I've noticed something similar.

I got an email from project issue about a new comment from kyle_matthews (would be comment #4) at #260322: new feed.

The email came over an hour ago, yet the comment itself is still not visible on the issue page. Interestingly enough, the last updated time for the issue at http://drupal.org/project/issues/webmasters is currently listed as 1 hour 1 minute, which is correct.

Interesting that the time is correct: http://drupal.org/node/267884 is currently vacillating between 20 minutes and 21 hours last updated — yet always has the correct number of replies ’ 26.

Whoops! now we have d.o on Garland!

And a validation error submitting this reply…

Ah! now it’s posted.

The infrastructure team is aware and working on it. You can monitor in #drupal-infrastructure, but they have information at this time to debug.

This was caused by replication lag. The slave has now been caught up, I've run checksums across it and the master to ensure data consistancy and this should be resolved.

Please let me know if you notice anything else odd.

When I log in at drupal.org there is no search box anymore.

When I try to post a question in the forums there are three pulldown boxes named Forum but no option to choose from, nothing can e pulled down. These are required fields so I cannot post anything. Been so for about an hour.

@TheoRichel: That sounds like a separate problem you're having. You'll be more likely to get a response if you start a new issue in the infrastructure queue about your problem (but first search to make sure there isn't already an issue on the same problem).

The infrastructure queue?
Where is that?

@TheoRichel - um, here, at the top of the page ;-)

Er. I'm not sure if the disappearing comments problem is fixed. Although I haven't seen it recur since this morning, I'd prefer a member of the infrastructure team sets this to "fixed". I'm pretty sure TheoRichel's status change was for the search box, not this issue.

theorichel’s picture

The search box is gone again this afternoon, both in IE and in FF.

I also have the idea that the Drupal site is heavily throttled. But the search box doesnt show up not even adter several minutes.
And to reply to Webchick: I also had a problem with four Forum selection boxes, but that has indeed disappeared.

Thanks

Yes, the disappearing search box is a seperate issue as mentioned before. There is already an issue on it and it is missing because it was turned off. Search gets turned off to reduce load when diagnosing other database issue.... see front page. Throttle is not enable for drupal.org, it would be to inefficient for a site this size.

I believe this issue is happening again. A little while ago I submitted the following three comments:
http://drupal.org/node/211182#comment-1108411
http://drupal.org/node/211182#comment-1108413

I noticed they weren't appearing on my tracker. So I hit reload, and they did appear. And then I hit reload again, and they disappeared. And so on...

Visiting the nodes in question showed the same behavior. For some page loads my comments would show up, and for others, they would not. It's half an hour later now and this problem is still occurring...

Issue 'nogroup' ownership of files in sites/ new

In fact it took several refreshes to see this latest message. I am just wondering how many attempts at posting will be needed to get this through. Looking at the Recent Posts there are many obvious multiple entries which indicates problems

Also when selecting an issue in many cases its not found

Sounds like parts of the database replication system could be really stale.

Just to follow up: I reported this on #drupal-infrastructure on Friday shorting after posting the above. The folks there put a short term fix in place (I think they just stopped using the problematic database server altogether).

It seemed to work fine after that, and still seems to be working fine now, but of course I'll leave this issue open for someone else to close, since I don't know if a long-term solution was found yet...
