For improved UX and to provide confirmation to the user it would be useful to print "Saved as draft" when a user saves the node without publishing.

Supplied patch accomplishes this against the latest stable release.

The first patch doesn't take into account validation so have re-rolled with the set_message in the submit handler.

I added this as a new setting, which is disabled by default so as to not automatically change the functionality of existing sites since not everyone would want this.
