Let's get a beta version out! Any help would be appreciated, particularly with writing tests. Currently we just have these issues:

#2663832: Fix flash fallback recorder so that multiple widget instance can co-exist on a page.
#2663836: Add multiple cardinality for file fields.

Hi, We have a lot of interest in this module for our work with youths. We had used Leo Burd's module but ran into constant flash problems. We tried this out a while ago, in D6, but it didn't work that well and was, well, not that pretty. I have this on my list with a developer we've hired on, so if we can help we'd be glad to do so, particularly with testing or trying to see if it will present well on a variety of browsers and iOS/Android uses. We also hope there are more options for players and would love to stick with soundmanager2.

Yes, the iOS/Android interface needs some love. I haven't tested it recently, and I also have tested it with the newest versions of Media and File Entity. I'm very open to any patches to improve the mobile interface. Please open another issue and we'll tag it on for the beta release.
