Problem/Motivation

At the moment there is no easy setting / option to hide the title on one specific page. We can hide the title for a specific content type ((display settings) or hide the page title block for all settings. To hide the title for one specific node we need som template adjustments, an alter hook or a twig template adjustment, this seems too difficult for a fairly regular / simple task.

Proposed resolution

Bring https://www.drupal.org/project/exclude_node_title in to core.

I propose that the best solution by using #2353867: [META] Expose Title and other base fields in Manage Display. That would expose the title field in "Manage Display" like any other field and so the field could be disabled. Advantages are:

  • Consistent with other fields.
  • Allows not only hiding but also changing the format.
  • Consistent with popular D7 title module and similar to popular D8 display suite.

If anyone doesn't agree with this approach apologies - please re-open and explain why.
