In \SearchApiFacetapiDate::execute(), the $settings['operator']; is ignored, but it's not documented, it simply keeps the AND behavior. Either it would be nice to implement this functionality or remove the operator selector for this type of facet (if possible)

Thanks for reporting! You're right, having this option there is just confusing. We might want to support this at some point, but for now we should definitely hide that option.
Could you please test whether the attached patch works for you to do that? Then I can commit it soon.
