Looks very similar to the comstack_pm module. Maybe there are some functions that can be merged?

Hey, thanks for pointing this out!

Well they look quite different from a code perspective so far, but both provide private messaging based on the Message stack.
So this certainly warrants discussion, especially before the D8 versions are developed. Many thanks.
