Hello,

Here are two patches :

- scald-variable_api_integration-2563677-2.patch is the real one

- scald-variable_api_integration_test-2563677-2.patch contains the real one and the menu entry and an implementation of hook_variable_info I used to test. (also document how to use it).

To test, you need the variable module enabled and to go to admin/config/content/scald/test
