Hello! I am a member of a team tasked with choosing a base theme for a very large Drupal project due to start very soon. I would like to know if Zen is scheduled to have an official 8.x release anytime soon. If an 8.x release is scheduled, what would be the time-frame involved? Which features of Zen have been prioritized? Also, we were wondering if we were to build using Zen in a Drupal 7 environment, are there plans to make it easy to migrate our subtheme to Drupal 8?

We are a very responsive and motivated group. We are likely to be active contributors to the issue queue of whichever theme we choose. Thanks, in advance, for any information you can provide!

Zen 8.x-7.x will have a release before Drupal 8 RC1 comes out.

Which features of Zen have been prioritized?

Zen 8.x-7.x will be as straight a port as possible of Zen 7.x-6.x. So it will have the same feature set.

Also, we were wondering if we were to build using Zen in a Drupal 7 environment, are there plans to make it easy to migrate our subtheme to Drupal 8?

That's the nice thing about the Sass components in Zen 7.x-6.x, it will be fairly easy to port to new markup in Drupal 8.
