Is there a way to set what panel panes to be available for rendering per panel page or panel page variant? I want to have some panel panes available for front page for example and others to be available for search panel page.

I know that panelizer has this option where you can filter available panel panes per content type.

Hi,
I was working these days on that. My idea is to add a tab on every variant -> "Allowed" in which we get the same array of checkboxes as the Standard panel page settings form and the allowed form on panelizer. Here is my patch for this.

I tried limiting the layouts, but all of the available layouts showed up in both the panels selection and within IPE after.

Perhaps you were thinking we don't need layouts? if not that should be changed in the patch.
