Here, the filter is attached to some known entities (using their primary key attributes):
http://cgit.drupalcode.org/entityreference_filter/tree/entityreference_f...
So a small module can be created which attaches the filter to other entities using the same method.
The best way is to use a universal method to determine base tables and primary key attributes. I'll be glad to see patches for this.
