This looks good and works as expected. It would be nice to clean up the grammar issues and leave out the empty insert_view.install, but I think you are right to do a straight port and handle these things after the port.

Thanks balsama. As per the request in #2548037, you now have maintainer privileges and can create a D8 branch.
