under advanced there is a dropdown for "Solr version override"
5.x is not there.
should it be?

You're right, totally forgot this, thanks for reporting!
I also forgot to remove "1.4" there when dropping support for that, so also removing that option.
Patch for both attached, please test!

#3 works on my install so far so good. Does the version affect on something? And what about auto derermination of the version, will it work for 5?

Yes, it does affect some places, where we use features not supported in Solr 3. Auto-detection already works fine, as far as I can tell, so no issue there.

Anyways, good to hear this works, thanks for testing!
