I take it this breaks (some) i18n support for Drupal less than 7.35?

mrP: no, all it does it to pass an extra argument to user_pass_rehash(), and PHP functions do not care about having extra arguments.

On the other hand, Drupal 7.35 was a security release: nobody should be running earlier versions.
