Hi,
i'm trying to upload pictures in my ldap via drupal using the ldap module. Editing users works, because if i edit description field i can see changes both in ldap and in a view querying ldap in drupal (classic phonebook), but if i try to upload a picture simply it doesn' work at all.
Ldap log shows the do_modify operation for description attribute, but nothing about picture.
I set the jpegphoto attribute provisioning picture in ldap_configuration->user->"Provisioning from LDAP to Drupal Mappings" and from drupal to ldap, and in servers->ldap user to drupal user relationship->thumbnail atribute.
It seems that the module doesn't provide a modification query to ldap.
I read many posts and seems all patches applied indeed i'm using drupal 7.34 and ldap 7.x-2.0-beta8+10-dev.
I have also xdebug enabled and eclipse configured to set some breakpoint (and obviously an ldap test environment), please just point me to the right direction to understand the problem to solve it.
Many thanks.

lykyd commentedI'm updating the version of this issue to 7.x-2.0-beta8 instead of 8.x-2.x since it's the one mentioned in the error description

grahlPlease respond here if you or somebody else is still seeing this problem and if a fix would be of use and if you'd need it in 7 or 8. Otherwise I'd close this issue in a few weeks.

grahlNo feedback, closing.

tarek commented@grahl: I am experiencing this issue using OpenLDAP and D7. In essence, I can *download* photos from LDAP -> drupal, but not *upload* them from drupal -> LDAP. Not sure how best to debug this. I have property.picture -> [jpegphoto] for the upload, and similarly [jpegphoto] -> property.picture for the download (automatically set)

grahlHi
Okay, understood. Did you try with and without binary conversion? Do you have access to debug logs on the directory server or can you debug what is actually being sent to the server by Drupal?
I currently don't have a setup where I push images to LDAP and there are several possible issues this could stem from, for example you are not sending the image data but Drupal information about it or the image data is not acceptable to the directory (too large, for example).

grahlSupport for sending the actual binary image data has been added to 8.x. If it sees a target_id in a synced field it tries to load a corresponding file. This could theoretically conflict with other custom entities, but those are not supported anyway.
If someone wants to take that as a guide and backport a patch I'd consider adding it but won't invest any time myself.

grahlClosing issue as outdated due to no further development on 7.x, if you feel this issue is still relevant and you are willing to work on a patch and/or debug the problem, please reopen.
