Hi I renamed one of the groups from "Social Initiative" to "Drupal Social Initiative" in hope of updating the group name but not the URL.
The result was not what I expected, what I got now is:
url: groups.drupal.org/drupal-social-initiative
title: "Social Initiative" (as it was before I changed it)

I cant get the URL to change back and I cant get the title to be "Drupal Social Initiative".

The ability to control both title and url may be a feature request but having the two out of sync sounds like a possible bug.

As a result of this all google URLs are now broken as they point to https://groups.drupal.org/social-initiative

I changed the path back. I'm also not able to change the title, not sure why. I know we generally try to avoid "Drupal" in group names, but I'm not aware of any code enforcing that preference. I'll leave this open until we track down why the name change doesn't stick.

Thanks @sreynen for reverting and for leaving this issue open. To the outside world this initiative is known as the "Drupal Social Initiative". So it would be nice to harmonise the title with how the outside world see it:

It's interesting that when I do a search on g.d.o for "Drupal Social Initiative" the results come up with the group title being "Drupal Social Initiative". But when I go to the actual "Drupal Social Initiative" group page, the title is just "Social Initiative". How could this be? Flush caches? ;-)

I'm a little confused. When I do a search for groups with Drupal in the name I find loads. So, I don't see any enforcement of "we generally try to avoid "Drupal" in group names" as you suggest.

Also, I'm findings loads of groups where the title is totally different from the URL. So this must be possible to change the title independently of the URL. Hmm...

Any light able to be shed on this subject would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Group title does change to 'Drupal Social Initiative' without problems. The title you see on the page however comes from the custom page you created:
https://groups.drupal.org/node/298233/og_panels/form/5543?destination=no...

I changed the title of that page and it is displayed properly now https://groups.drupal.org/social-initiative
