Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
Once in a while someone ask me about references of sites using this Drupal Crowdfunding and I don't have any idea. It's a fact that look other sites using a module your are evaluating is a great step in choose to use it or not, so I totally agree with this idea and wanna know: where are these sites?
If you know some(or are the maintainer/from the team itself), please share your website URL here and, if possible, a feedback would be awesome too!

joaogarin CreditAttribution: joaogarin commentedHello,
I am playing with the module. my intention is to make a distribution that provides a ready to use crowdfunding site using this module as the center for crowdfunding.
I like the way it started. Seems easy to use, I will post some issues and try to fix some as well while I am going.
Best regards,
Joao Garin

joaogarin CreditAttribution: joaogarin commentedIts stated in the module readme file : http://benfeitoria.com/
Comment #8
pedrorocha CreditAttribution: pedrorocha commentedUnfortunately not @Basaa88. This module was created based on what I developed for http://benfeitoria.com, but I don't have any project of mine using THIS module exactly. Benfeitoria has an alpha version of it only.

joaogarin CreditAttribution: joaogarin commentedHello,
Just to everyone knows. I did my project without using the module..turned out way simpler to just use commerce. I keep my opinion that this project would have a big impact on a lot of people but it would definitely need some more activity and a wider scope..not just applied to specific situations using custom code without any kind of views, core fields etc. Makes it difficult to use.
My project is here http://themeforest.net/item/funded-drupal-crowdfunding-commerce-site/121...
Its not open source, but anyways if anyone needs some help knowing how I did it or something just ask. It was pretty much with commerce, and some speficic hooks in a couple of custom modules. Everything using features, views, fields etc..the standards.
Best regards

pedrorocha CreditAttribution: pedrorocha commentedCongrats! Your product looks good.
Totally agree. Unfortunately, i'm not working with any project related to crowdfunding, so this module improvement depends on people helping with money or personal time.
About custom code, they have a reason to be there, specially when handling thousands of contributions to a project. I started the way you did and evolved over the almost 3 years taking care of the crowdfunding platform that served as a base for this module. What is missing are the integrations, that are desired improvements over this initial code.
Anyway, I think that making you project that does the same as this one here does, make it proprietary, and complain that this one here lacks activity sounds contradictory to me. Why not collaborate to make the improvements and help make it "a project with a big impact"?

mrsean CreditAttribution: mrsean commentedpedrorocha and joaogarin Thanks very much for the work you've done, looks very interesting and I am trying to understand more about it.
But my biggest question is regarding the payment systems... Are you guys holding onto credit card information, and then only charging the credit cards when the crowdfunding goal is reached?
If you are doing so, do you have any details on how that works? Does that vary by Payment provider? Any useful links or code you can share on this aspect?
Many thanks!!!

pedrorocha CreditAttribution: pedrorocha commentedHi @mrsean,
just to make it clear: @joaogarin said he is not using this module.
About the payment methods, both solutions(this module and his install profile) works with Drupal Commerce, so you can use any payment method developed on top of Drupal Commerce API for payment. Each module that extends Drupal Commerce payment API works in a different way, but you can do both ways you mentioned, if you want(even developing you own payment method).
P.S.: if needed, please open new issues and keep this one here focused on it's subject(reporting sites that use this module), to help keep things organized

joaogarin CreditAttribution: joaogarin commentedHello,
Like Pedro is saying. I did not really use this project in the end. But I really wouldnt mind doing some stuff for the project. As it is an insteresting one and does make total sense to have such a project and distribution in Drupal. I am sure tons of people would use it.
@pedrorocha I did submit a patch to add views integration. I think that would be a good thing. As its used in most if not all projects and people will expect that. if you wnat please take a look at it. I can add some extra stuff with views or even rules for example. Those are musts in any project such as a Crowdfunding platform.
Just on a note regarding using Commerce, i think it gives enough flexibility to do pretty much all you need to do. it uses rules so you can configure pretty much exactly how you want the payment to work.
Best regards

mrsean CreditAttribution: mrsean commentedSorry guys,
it was dumb of me to put this question here in this thread, apologies.
Also, I know @joaogarin isn't using this module in his distribution.
However I figured he being in this thread, might mention something he had done in this vein.
I've created a issue here to discuss the problem: https://www.drupal.org/node/2570583
I know the issue isn't something this specific module is meant to address, I think many many people doing crowdfunding need a solution to this issue.
I'm a newb at creating issues so if you can think of a better place to posit this issue please let me know!!!
Also Joao, if your distribution resolves this issue, please provide more details on which payment providers you support, and I'd seriously consider purchasing your distribution.
Thanks again, guys!
Sean

joaogarin CreditAttribution: joaogarin commentedHello,
By default my distribution only has the commerce_paypal module inside. But of course since it uses commerce the flexibility is there to hold / not hold credit card, charge whenever you want etc.. You would have to manage that with rules.
@pedrorocha any toughts on that views integration? Can you review the patch? Or someone else test it?
