Superfish breaks in menu bar region with any changes

I'm experiencing some issues with Superfish menus in the menu bar region. If I move the Superfish menu into the region, everything works well. However, if I make any changes, the menu breaks and loses its styling (the white, well spaced letters turn into an orange run on sentence with no breaks).

The changes I can't make include:
1. Selecting a menu other than the Main Menu.
2. Adding to the block title field.
3. Changing the SF-Smallscreen to any setting other than default.
4. Changing the SF-Smallscreen User Agent Settings to 'Use the custom list of the user agents' and adding 'iPhone*Android*iPad' to the field.

- Each of these were done separately, not together. Switching the settings back to default does not make the menu work again. I have to move onto a different Superfish (see below).

Considering the best research I could do, I tried this with the latest Dev version (7.x-3.x-dev dated 2014-Mar-25) as well. Same issues as with the recommended 7.x-3.0 release. Also, like with another issue (https://www.drupal.org/node/1852284), the menu doesn't work on iPhone. The dropdowns don't function, so any links with children are not working.

The interesting thing is that each Superfish menu breaks in order. I tried with Superfish1, then Superfish2, etc... I increased the number of Superfish menus to 10 and worked through them trying various fixes. I deactivated the Superfish module and then uninstalled. After reactivating the module, the Superfish menus were all reset and worked well without any changes.

I'll keep playing and add more as I can. Any feedback is welcome (also, should I post this on the Superfish issues page? It seems more of a theme issue than a module isssue, but I could be wrong).
