OpenStack Object Storage (Swift) is ideal for cost effective, scale-out storage. It provides a fully distributed, API-accessible storage platform that can be integrated directly into applications or used for backup, archiving and data retention. It's a part of OpenStack, a free and open-source software cloud computing platform. Which is primarily deployed as an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) solution. The technology consists of a series of interrelated projects that control pools of processing, storage, and networking resources throughout a data center, able to be managed or provisioned through a web-based dashboard, command-line tools, or a RESTful API. It is released under the terms of the Apache License.
How does it integrate with Drupal?
This module integrates the object store as a stream wrapper for saving Drupal's files on the object store. It also allows you to override existing stream wrappers like public:// and private:// to be saved on the object store.
